DR. PAUL MacCREADY, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Caltech Graduate Selected as "Engineer of the Century"
Comments on Monrovia's Value to His Business

"After a decade in Pasadena, Aerovironment outgrew our facilities there and looked for a larger Pasadena location.

All our senior staff were from Cal Tech and most comfortable with Pasadena. There was no suitable space in Pasadena, so we moved to the Boone Fetter property on Myrtle Avenue in Monrovia with some trepidation, wondering if we were getting away from the cultural home we had enjoyed in Pasadena.

We've been very delighted ever since the move. Monrovia has grown a great deal since 1984 (when we moved here) in business and services. Many conveniences are nearby.

The new staff at Aerovironment has found good, affordable housing. The commute on the 210 Freeway from Pasadena is rarely crowded. Commuting from east of Monrovia is sometimes busy, but much less than if we had remained in Pasadena. Here in Monrovia, we certainly have a better selection of potential employees to choose.

We think the move out of Pasadena and into Monrovia was a wise move on our part and we've never regretted it. And the view of the mountains from here is beautiful!"

*In addition to his selection as "Engineer of the Century" Dr. McCready has placed six (6) vehicles/projects at the Smithsonian.
